In an inspiring effort to uplift both refugee and local youth in Uganda, Refugees For Prosperity (RFP) has launched a dynamic program offering essential technical skills. This initiative aims to empower young people from host communities and refugee populations residing in Kampala and across Uganda. By partnering with various technical training institutions, RFP is providing three-month courses in a range of valuable trades, including plumbing, welding, mechanical training, electrical installation, and more.

These courses are designed to equip participants with practical skills that enhance their employability and self-reliance, fostering economic growth and stability within their communities. Not only do the learners benefit from these opportunities, but the wider community and host country stand to gain from the infusion of skilled professionals who can contribute to various sectors.

During our routine visit to one of our partner institutions, Buganda Royal Technical Institute, we observed firsthand the progress of the plumbing course. It was heartening to see the enthusiasm and dedication of the students, who are eager to translate their newfound knowledge into meaningful work.

Here are some photos and clips of the beneficiaries joyfully participating in learning activities:

These stories are just a glimpse of the transformative impact RFP’s program is having. By providing access to quality technical education, RFP is not only empowering individuals but also fostering a sense of unity and collaboration between refugees and host communities. This initiative is a testament to the power of education and skill development in creating resilient and prosperous societies.

We look forward to seeing these students thrive and contribute positively to their communities, embodying the spirit of resilience and hope that defines Refugees For Prosperity’s mission.
