My story started in 2010 and continued until 2018 when I was working as a mentor for young leaders and entrepreneurs who were fleeing their country. In the course of my work, I noticed an under-addressed problem within our local refugee communities. Whenever I walked around our community area, I noticed majority of the refugee youth could not access basic human rights like education, medical care, moving from one place to another, as well as their struggles with unemployment and low incomes and banking services. This was the life their parents had lived, and without change, it was likely to be the life their children would also lead. Thousands of youths dropped out of the formal school system annually, a path that we could easily have found ourselves on.
