Meeting Between the Somali Community, Refugees for Prosperity (RFP), and the Uganda Police

On 27/09/2025, the Somali Community in Uganda, together with the national refugee-led organization Refugees for Prosperity (RFP), today held an important meeting with Uganda’s security institutions, particularly Old Kampala Police Station and Kasato Police Station (Kisenyi).

The delegation from the Somali Community and RFP was led by:

Mr. Abaas Muyaw – Deputy Leader of the Somali Community in Uganda

Mr. Abdullahi Ibrahim – Head of Community Coordination

Mr. Mohamed Abdirahman – Executive Director & Program coordinator of Refugees for Prosperity (RFP)

Key issues discussed during the meeting:

Strengthening cooperation between the Police, the Somali Community, and RFP. The importance of public security and effective service delivery for the refugee community.Preventing challenges related to Uganda’s upcoming elections, with emphasis on caution and continuous collaboration.Encouraging Somali community members to report any challenges or complaints to the Community Office or RFP, so that timely support and solutions can be provided.

The leadership of Refugees for Prosperity (RFP) stressed that serving refugees and safeguarding security remain top priorities, built on trust and strong collaboration. The meeting further emphasized the need for sustained cooperation to ensure a united, safe, and progressive community.
