Founder’s story

Every meaningful journey begins with a purpose. My journey started in 2010, when I dedicated myself to mentoring young leaders and aspiring entrepreneurs who had been forced to flee their homes in search of safety and a better future. Working closely with refugee communities gave me the opportunity to witness not only their resilience but also the many barriers that prevented them from reaching their full potential.

As I spent more time in these communities, I realized that thousands of refugee youth were being left behind. Many lacked access to quality education, healthcare, financial services, employment opportunities, and the freedom to move and pursue better livelihoods. Families struggled daily to meet their basic needs, and many talented young people abandoned their dreams because they had no access to the opportunities they deserved. Without intervention, this cycle of poverty and exclusion would continue from one generation to the next.

Seeing this reality inspired me to act. I firmly believed that every refugee youth possesses unique talents and abilities waiting to be discovered. What they need is not sympathy, but opportunity—access to education, practical skills, mentorship, and an environment where they can build confidence and become self-reliant.

Driven by this vision, I founded Refugees for Prosperity (RFP) in 2018. The organization was established to create lasting opportunities for underserved refugee youth and women by providing practical training, entrepreneurship development, employability skills, leadership programs, and community empowerment initiatives. Our goal has always been to equip refugees with the knowledge and confidence needed to build sustainable livelihoods and contribute positively to their communities.

Since its establishment, Refugees for Prosperity has continued to transform lives through vocational training, business development, digital skills, financial literacy, women’s empowerment, and youth leadership programs. Every training session, every mentorship opportunity, and every success story reminds us that investing in people creates stronger families and more resilient communities.

Today, our vision extends beyond helping individuals find employment. We are building a generation of innovators, entrepreneurs, and community leaders who will inspire others, create jobs, and become agents of positive change. We believe that when refugee youth are empowered with the right skills, resources, and opportunities, they do not simply survive—they thrive.

Our journey is far from over. We remain committed to expanding opportunities, strengthening partnerships, and ensuring that every refugee youth and woman has the chance to realize their full potential. Together, we are creating a future where hope replaces hardship, skills replace dependency, and prosperity becomes achievable for all.

“Empowering refugee youth and women today creates resilient leaders, stronger communities, and a more prosperous tomorrow.”
