About Us

Refugees for Prosperity (RFP) is a refugee-led, non-governmental organization registered in Uganda, headquartered in the Bulange Zone of Kampala. Founded in 2018 by a Somali refugee who had personally experienced the challenges of displacement — including communication barriers due to ethnic differences, difficulty finding comfortable housing, limited access to healthcare and legal aid, and a lack of employment opportunities — RFP was born out of a vision to help refugees and vulnerable people integrate into their new environment and improve their welfare.

By bringing together a team of young educators and intellectuals of mixed gender, age, and cultural background, RFP delivers education and social development programs that help refugees and vulnerable people strengthen their livelihoods and become more self-reliant. The organization focuses on empowering refugees, youth, and women by identifying and responding to their most pressing needs — regardless of age, sex, background, or ethnic group — through direct engagement with community leaders and the refugees themselves, developing solutions in partnership with the communities they serve.
