Feeding the family is a daily struggle for many refugees, but with a small helping hand as groups of refugee women, has been able to start thriving small businesses to support their families.
Uganda has been hosting refugees since 1959. Uganda is as well the largest refugee-hosting country in Africa fifth-largest host in the world with over 1.7 million refugees and asylum seekers. Refugees live alongside local hosting communities in peaceful coexistence sharing natural resources and accessing the same social services.
Uganda has been recognized globally for having one of the most progressive open-door refugee policies: Uganda is also well advanced in the implementation of the comprehensive Refugee Framework (CRRF)

The support she received enabled her to achieve financial independence and empower herself within the community. Her business now provides fresh produce and contributes to the local economy.

Bishaar Abdi Daahir, a refugee from Somalia, began his journey as a shop owner in Kisenyi with the support of Refugees For Prosperity (RFP). RFP’s guidance and resources helped him establish a successful business that provides essential goods to the community. His shop now offers a stable income for his family and contributes to the local economy.

Samatar Yasin Aden, originally from Somalia, is a beneficiary of Refugees For Prosperity (RFP) who obtained his driving license through the program. This achievement has opened new opportunities for him, allowing him to work as a driver. Samatar is now on a path to financial stability and self-reliance, thanks to RFP’s support.
